A famous local sports announcer was recently pulled over for drunk driving in Westport, Connecticut. Police found the man slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle at an intersection.

Early last Wednesday morning, sports announcer Bob Lorenz was arrested on drunk driving charges after police discovered him stopped at the intersection of Bridge Street and Compo Road South in Westport. According to police, Lorenz was found in the driver's seat asleep with the car running.

Police ran alongside Lorenz's car warning him to slow down after he awoke and slowly accelerated through the intersection. Lorenz stopped the vehicle just short of hitting a light pole. He then turned off his car and rolled down the window to talk with police.

Police were unable to understand Lorenz when he attempted to communicate, and police could smell a "strong odor" of alcohol on Lorenz's breath. According to police, Lorenz failed subsequent field sobriety tests.

Lorenz hosts New York Yankees and New Jersey Nets pregame and postgame shows on the YES Network. The network's studio operations are located in Stamford, Connecticut. Before joining YES, Lorenz worked at CNN for 12 years where he hosted shows on college football and basketball and the NFL and the NBA.
